Mayor Chow and her progressive allies at City Council are doubling-down on their radical tax and spend agenda. Now they are focused on increasing the land transfer tax on homes over $3 million. We know this is not good faith tax policy because this administration has time and again proven that they are incapable of being prudent stewards of the public coffer.

And we know that despite record-breaking tax increases over the last three years, our city continues to look worse for wear. Further squeezing the middle and upper-middle class will only create an additional chill on our economy, reduce our ability to attract entrepreneurial people, and make Toronto an even less business-friendly climate than it already is. And when you relentlessly tax real estate transactions, you create another chill effect on the real estate market depressing sales, further reducing revenue potential for the city.  A self-defeating policy that will only accelerate decline. Toronto has a spending problem, and that is the real issue here.

Next week, City Council will debate and vote on Chow’s MLTT increase. IntegrityTO calls on all concerned citizens to submit written letters to Council expressing their opposition to this motion.

It is very simple to do. Simply click the button below, and hit the “Submit comments” button. Be sure to ask the clerk to publish your letter on the site. Every City Councillor reads the letters on the council webpage, so take advantage of this opportunity!
